Hjalti has used a similar technique to generate samples before - opening the executable file for an application as if it was raw audio data, and choosing snippets of the results to build compositions with. It’s an interesting and sometimes surprising approach to the glitch aesthetic.

Found this adorable story on EM411.com today:

my 8 month old daughter LOVES the sound of the 303. any song that has it in it makes her squeal and squawk in delight.

one day i sat down with her and fired up my x0xb0x. i put it into program mode and let her randomly hit the notes/accent/slide/up/down while i hit ‘next’. once we had a pattern complete, we made a new one.

in addition to the x0xb0x programming, she also banged out some bass and beats on the mpc. quantized of course. she’s only 8 months old after all.

we pressed her two favorite songs to a 7”. it’s limited to 200 copies on pink vinyl and 100 on black. all proceeds go to her college fund.
